Dr. S. K. Raghunath

Dr. S. K. Raghunath is Director and Head of Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery at HCG Cancer Hospital, Bengaluru. Over a career defined by surgical innovation, he has performed more than 6,000 uro-oncological procedures and over 1,900 robotic surgeries on the Da Vinci platform – the highest robotic uro-oncology volume in Karnataka – and has conducted more than 30 clinical research trials in prostate cancer. His fellowships span laparoscopic and robotic urology (Taipei), uro-oncology (Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, New Delhi), and molecular oncology of prostate cancer (CPDR, Washington DC).

A recognized force in surgical robotics, he is a certified Intuitive Surgical proctor who has trained more than 25 urologic oncologists, and has evaluated all six robotic platforms available in India – contributing clinical and technical feedback during their development. He was the first Indian surgeon to perform robotic radical prostatectomy and radical nephrectomy on cadavers using the CMR system and key steps of robotic radical prostatectomy using the Medbot system. He is a Past Secretary of the Society of Genito-Urinary Oncologists (SOGO) of India, a past President and Secretary of the Bangalore Urological Society, Senior Vice President and Trustee of the Global Prostate Cancer Foundation, and co-founder of MedTech ventures Comofi Medtech and Pinnacl. He has published more than 35 manuscripts and five book chapters, and spoke on robotic surgery at TEDx in 2019.
